The tracks...

The tracks are dry and dusty! Downhill course looks a lot more technical than I had in mind... In the top section of the course there are some nice challenging rock gardens, bottom half is bit more flat and has some nice jumps in it.
4-cross track is basically a BMX track, the hill is small and the track is just hard pack with berms and jumps. Looks good, I think I will like this course. Other than that it's nice here, we went to the Zoo the other day to check out some funny Australian animals.

Kangaroo Island

After 3 days in Sydney we decided to go and check out the beach for 2 days. We went to Manly, a nice beach town and I enjoyed it a lot more than the big city. Yesterday we picked up Mio from the airport and drove to the capital city of Australia, Canberra. It's nice here, a bit cold but blue skies everyday. Matti and I went for a XC ride here and we saw a bunch of kangaroos. I wish I could take one home, those things are so cool. I haven't seen the race site yet, but I am hoping to go and check out the courses today.

Down Under

After a long sit on the plane I arrived with my team in Sydney, Australia. This time of year it is still winter here... Well, they call it winter but I call it a cool summer day in Holland!! The next couple of days we will stay in Sydney, chill out and explore the town. Jared Graves is already a super hero here. Tomorrow the BMX Olympics are on the program so don't forget to watch it!! Sorry that I have been a bit slow with putting some updates online the last couple of days. Whistler is such a great place that you hardly spend any time inside. We just have been doing fun stuff....,riding bikes, going out, sitting in the jacuzzi, playing some golf....etc. Well, after a year and a half I raced Downhill again and it was good fun. Doing a 4 minute run is something else and my legs were burning pretty hard at the end of the run. My race went well and I ended up 5th which I was satisfied with. On to the Giant slalom that was held on friday night, I qualified first and was able to win every single run in racing, I really loved that course. Saturday I took a day off and watched the Slopestyle..... how crazy are those guys!! They were popping back flips and front flips like it was nothing.

It is already time to pack our bikes and stuff again. Today we will be flying to Australia for the second to last Word cup of the season. I will be missing this place......
